Dracula vs Death: Sequential Art!

A two page comic I did for my concepts class. I had a good time doing this, getting back to doing sequential art after not doing much since high school has been a real eye opener. It's hard. Those comic help book are looking way better. Just got Stan Lee's How to draw the Marvel Way and Scott McCloud's Understanding comics book. I've learned a good deal from them already just from looking at a few pages, but I hardly have time to read anymore. Definitely need to get to that, but not before doing more pages.

Another Self-Portrait

So this is a self-portrait I did in class, I did about 2 months ago? It was fun, I wanted to do an action pose, I kinda weaked out on the leg. While I was disappointed that I didn't finish it, I did like the approach I took. I do also love the use of the nintendo zapper.

Dave Chappelle as Prince

Ever seen that episode of the Chappelle Show when Chappelle dresses up and plays Prince and dominates Charlie Murphy on the court? I did and this directly inspired this drawing I did on Photoshop. I intended to color it but by the time I wanted to to do that I had gotten a little bored. plus the color never came out the right way.

Occupation: Monster herder (BW)

Did a occupation piece for my illustration class, seeing as I'm leaning more towards the whole fantasy/sci-fi/narratve genre I felt this may have fit the terms of the assignment pretty well. I ended up doing a color version of this that for best words ended interestingly, but since I have this file on hand and it couldn't go that far downhill I put it up. This piece was inspired by on of Frederic Remington's paintings. The animals aren't as active as mine and without that that since the piece is so straight it lacks much action. I still like it but this is definitely a learning experience. This bit of info definitely helped when I layed out my later comic pages.

The Three monkeys

An assignment I had to do with animals in human situations. I spent more time on this then I usually do with pieces that I don't personally feel motivated to do but I love chimpanzees and using them really made a difference in my motivation for this drawing. First in the pencils and the next is colored with watercolors and acrylics. Fun stuff. Gotta gotta get back to comics.
